[Shopify x Growth Meetup Report] Jan. 28 (Wed) Event — Learning "Product Development & Sales Strategies" from AuB and Cynthia
Growth Meetup is a monthly event where speakers and attendees come together to share knowledge on how to continuously grow their businesses using Shopify.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Mr. Tanaka from AuB Inc. and Ms. Shinoike from Cynthia Co., Ltd. took the stage to speak on the theme of "How to Create and Sell Hit Products Based on Customer Insights." Many professionals involved in e-commerce attended, and the venue buzzed with organic networking conversations even before the event officially began, creating an atmosphere full of energy.
What made this event particularly memorable was not simply the sharing of success stories, but the detailed account of the thinking process behind them — "Why did you make that decision?" and "At what point did you revise your hypothesis?" The discussion centered on the "interpretation" behind products and numbers, and it was a time from which even the organizing team took away many valuable lessons.
In this report, we look back on the presentations from that day.

The Essence of Product Development and Sales
The most important takeaway from the case studies presented by both Cynthia and AuB was brand-building through "interpretive intelligence." Rather than treating customer voices and behaviors as mere data, the presentations emphasized the importance of interpreting the deeper needs and market trends behind them, and reflecting those insights into product design and marketing strategy. This approach makes it possible to bring to life the things customers didn't even know they wanted, and to deliver the right products to the market.
Leveraging Customer Insights
In Cynthia's presentation, concrete approaches were shared on how to capture and give form to subtle customer insights during the product development process. In particular, the perspective that "true insights cannot be found in what customers say alone" offered a viewpoint distinct from many other case studies, and prompted fresh realizations among attendees.

Designing a Continuous Customer Experience
AuB's presentation focused on the importance of the customer experience after a purchase. In particular, the approach of deepening customer relationships through post-purchase value communication — reducing churn rates and improving LTV (Lifetime Value) — felt like a universal strategy applicable to any brand.

Summary | "Interpretive Intelligence" Builds Brands and Drives Growth
At this Growth Meetup, a common essence emerged from the case studies of two companies in different industries with different products. That essence is the importance of not treating customer statements as ready-made answers, but rather gathering raw material — including contradictions and behaviors — interpreting it in your own way, and making decisions consistently based on that interpretation.
Insights are not correct answers lying around somewhere waiting to be found — they are the "result of interpretation" that emerges after gathering the raw material. And it was a time that reminded us once again that carrying that interpretation through consistently — from product design to communication to the post-purchase experience — is what shapes a brand and drives its growth.

We sincerely thank Cynthia, AuB, and all attendees for joining us.
