Kama-Asa
Official EC site of Kama-Asa, a long-established kitchenware shop in Kappabashi, Asakusa — in business for 116 years
(A joint project with Eight Branding Design)
- Project Overview
-
For this project, we conducted a thorough analysis of the customer journey based on the branding concept that Kama-Asa had built together with Eight Branding Design, with the goal of conveying the full appeal of Kama-Asa's "quality kitchenware" beyond the simple act of purchasing. We were responsible for designing the store architecture and implementing the development based on that analysis.
In pursuit of Kama-Asa's vision — to integrate their brand site and EC site while preserving brand value, allowing customers to connect with the stories behind the products and the passion of the craftsmen, and ultimately become fans of Kama-Asa as a whole rather than just individual products — we proposed an intuitive, user-friendly site structure and screen design that provides easy and appropriate access to product information and brand stories. Following the visual design phase overseen by Eight Branding Design, we proceeded with development and implementation.
During the design phase, we presented journey map patterns for users visiting the site with a variety of needs, and proposed new custom sections not found in standard Shopify stores — all from the perspective of building a structure that could accommodate users comprehensively — thereby realizing the originality of Kama-Asa's online presence.

Examples of Deliverables from This Project

A customer journey map created for the Kama-Asa EC site build, visualizing the process through which users encounter the brand and ultimately make a purchase. Covering everything from the moment a customer first visits the site to the post-purchase experience, this map served as the foundation for designing an optimal experience tailored to each point of entry.

An identification of the landing pages corresponding to each inflow channel (touchpoint) derived from the customer journey map, along with a detailed analysis of user behavior and access paths for each channel. Designed to accommodate traffic from both online and offline channels, this document maps out the routes through which customers arrive at the site, ensuring an optimal user experience regardless of the path taken.

A list of required screens and their wireframes, created based on the customer journey map analysis and inflow channel analysis. Designed to optimize the user experience when visiting the site, and aimed at delivering a consistent brand experience at every touchpoint. Detailed screen design was carried out to ensure that customers arriving via any route can access smooth navigation and engaging content suited to their purpose.

Given the store's extensive use of custom styling, operational manuals were prepared for each content update task. Each manual provides detailed step-by-step instructions accompanied by screen captures, designed to make the update process straightforward and efficient. These serve as an essential tool for supporting consistent and efficient site management.

A WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) used to manage the overall project workflow. It visually organizes the progress status, dependencies, and timeline of each task, supporting efficient project execution and schedule management. By leveraging this WBS, the entire team was able to maintain visibility into project progress and coordinate effectively.
